Trust Tuesday 19/05/20

This #TrustTuesday Joy shares with us her thoughts on the word trust followed by a short prayer …

When considering the word ‘Trust’ in the context of my life the words of Proverbs 3:5-6 comes to mind….

Proverbs 3: 5-6….

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths”

The words “trust in the Lord”, for me means that when we trust, we are placing our security in what we are trusting in. Only God is perfectly trustworthy and faithful, but we need to know God to be able to trust God.

How do we do this? By reading the Living Word of God: The Bible

God loved each of us from the very beginning and is calling us back to Himself today and throughout the Bible we read of God proving to be truly trustworthy.

In Exodus we read that the blood of the Passover Lamb protected the Israelites. While they were living in Egypt they trusted God and the angel of death passed over those houses where the blood of the lamb was on the doorposts and lintels of their dwellings. How much we need that divine protection today!

Through reading God’s Word we can get to know Him, we can read of His promises, His prophecies and His love for us and we can see that God is truly trustworthy. The blood red thread of God’s Redemptive plan of love runs from Genesis to Revelation.

When we ‘trust in the Lord with all our heart” and place our hearts into the hands of God, our ‘trusting ‘leads to ‘His holding’. He does the impossible. By faith, He works miracles in our lives and He makes ‘a way when there seems to be no way.’ Isaiah 43:19

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness

    and streams in the wasteland.

God’s timing is always just right...

We learn to “lean not on our own understanding” but to lean completely into the loving arms of God. It means not relying on ourselves but letting God take control of our lives as He knows the plans He has for each one of us.

“In all your ways acknowledge Him”:  not in some ways or on some days, but always and in everything we do. This means declaring the existence, certainty, and trustworthiness of God. To acknowledge Him as Lord of our lives and to give Him full access to sit on the throne of our hearts. There, “He will direct our paths.” and lead us to where He wants us to go, as we perfectly trust in Him.

And now a short prayer for Trust Tuesday

We thank you Lord that we can trust and depend on You our Father and our God. We thank You for our created world, for our free will and for Your plan of Redemption right there at the beginning in the Garden of Eden. We thank You for all the fulfilled promises and prophecies throughout the Bible which lead us and guide us in Your truth. We thank you for Your ‘amazing grace’ and for the gift of Your Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in whom we trust. We thank you Father God for Jesus’ death on the Cross ensuring that we now have a restored relationship with You and the promise of eternal life. We thank You for the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit, trusting Him to guide, empower and sustain us as we look forward to Jesus’ second coming.

In Jesus name we pray

Amen
