Scripture Saturday 20/06/20

Jane shares what her favourite bible verse means to her for today’s #ScriptureSaturday …

When I became a Christian (over 30 years ago now) I began to avidly read the Bible and verses began jumping out at me.  Romans 8:38-39 were particularly significant, so much so that I read them out at my baptism and they have remained ‘my Scripture’ ever since. Recently I was reading them in The Passion Translation or TPT (this version brings out all the depth of feeling of the original language)and they took on even more meaning:-

‘So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that His love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken His love. There is no power above us or beneath us – no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!’

WOW!  Nothing in the universe can separate us from His love, nothing can weaken His love, nothing can distance us from His PASSIONATE love which we receive through our Lord Jesus.  What promises for us who believe. What hope we have in being united with Christ. These words are life-changing when we truly grasp hold of them and they will sustain us to the very end of our lives and beyond because His love will even triumph over death itself.
