Here God is reassuring the Israelites that all will be well at a  time of  great turmoil and change.

This verse was the inscription in a Bible which was given to me over 30 years ago at a time of great uncertainty in my life.  These words have always stayed with me daily, in happy and good times as well as in difficult periods of life…. never more than at present when life, as I become older, really does seem uncertain at times and, if we are truly honest with ourselves, can make us fearful and discouraged.  

However, I know that the Lord is always there, always has been and always will be and will never forsake me or us.  We must always trust in God’s word.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
