30th October 2022

Our DCC (church council) met today (Sun 30th Oct 2022) to review the reports and advice received over the past few weeks. A big thank you to our Fabric Committee who have been working hard over the recent weeks contacting contractors, specialists, Diocese representatives and others to gain a full understanding of the issues, and draft recommendations and options for consideration.

The current cast iron boiler is in excess of 25 years old and whilst the system has preformed its duty to date, it has been subject of lots of minor repairs and patches to keep going. Unfortunately at its annual service this year, due to the issues which have arisen, the boiler had to be disconnected and can no longer be used. As such, the church will require a new boiler installation (and associated works) to bring the boiler room up to current standards and then provide the church building with heating.

While this will need to be fully designed, detailed and then prices sought, this process will take time and, we will require a significant fund raising campaign in order to raise the funds required. Although no prices have yet been received, the current estimate is around £15-20k (although this is an approximate estimate only at this stage).

If you feel you could give to the heating project, please click on the image below, or you can contact us via the website or phone to discuss other options such as bank transfers.

We appraise any donations large or small which will all go towards the repairs/maintenance/replacement of the heating of the Church here in Scotby.

Thank you.

Please note we are having issues with our heating system and as such we have no heating in the church. Whist we investigate the problem and potential solutions, we will be holding our 9am services in the Parish Centre, and our 10.30am services in Scotby Village Hall for the foreseeable. We will keep you updated here as and when we have any news.
