Before The World Began (So You Would Come) 01/08/20

By Joy Nelson

The words of this song by Hillsong describe the wonderful relationship that we have with God because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and his amazing saving grace.

In the beginning, God knew us before we were born, as the words in Jeremiah 1:5 explain “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart“.

So before we were born God knew us and had a plan for our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a futureJeremiah 29:11.

Unfortunately, we often ignore God’s plan for our lives and strive to live
our lives in our own way, not listening to God’s wisdom and direction. By living in our own strength life becomes too busy, too frustrating and meaningless, striving after never ending goals. God says he has a plan and if we keep to the plan, we can find life in all its fullness; a meaningful life now and security in knowing that when we die, we have everlasting salvation and an eternity with God.

As the song says ‘nothing [we] can do could make Him love [us] more’ and
‘nothing [we have] done could make Him close the door’. God has done it all and because of His great love for us, He gave his only son to die on the cross. Jesus has paid the price for the sin in our lives, once and for all. Everything was done so we would come… The song then goes on to say ‘come to the Father though your gift is small, broken hearts, broken lives He will take them all’.

There is power in His Word in the Bible and when we speak out the
Word of God, it releases power in our lives and there is healing power in the blood of Jesus; physical and spiritual, all available to us today.

Everything was done so you would come. This is God’s invitation to us all, to come to the Father…. before it is too late. An eternity without God will be inescapable and terrifying.
