Comfort and company.

Hello again everyone. We have had quite varied experiences since our last post. Although we have done a lot of walking, forward progress has slowed for several reasons – firstly, lack of buses has meant we have had to walk several sections in both directions (i.e. After finishing a walk we have had to walk back to the start to retrieve the van) sometimes back along the Coast Path with the sea on our left, which makes a nice change, and a couple of times we have walked back along rural roads to cut across headlands and reduce the mileage.

Also, we have some special treats this week – on Wednesday we checked into this beautiful Mews Cottage on a stunning country estate near the Eden Project where we were joined by son Mark and Cara and have enjoyed their company on a wet day’s walk. We were also delighted to meet up with old friends June and Roger after 33 years – we enjoyed a very chatty walk with them and some lovely meals sharing happy memories and creating new ones.

A big change in scenery on Wednesday when we walked 11mls along the Plymouth Waterway and took 3 ferries. Industry, scrapyards and traffic added variety to our SWCP experience.

Oh, and we are needing raincoats now and then, fortunately  for showers rather than full on rain and there is still plenty of sunshine.

Tomorrow it is back to just the two of us and our trusty van after an idyllic interlude here at Tregrehan Gardens. In one way, we feel as though we are on the ‘home straight’ but then we look at the map and there is still a lot of tough walking ahead of us!

Seems ages since we’ve seen you.

Barbara and Graham
